Revenue is not the amount wagered
GGR, GGY and casino win describe gaming revenue under the source’s definition. Turnover or stakes may count repeated bets. Deposits are money transferred into an account, and NGR depends on the deductions used. We keep these measures separate.
Casino hold is not the house edge
Nevada’s 19.00% reported roulette hold in 2025 is a win/drop ratio. Drop measures a table’s buy-in-related reporting base, not every repeated wager. It is not evidence of a 19% mathematical house edge. NGCB report ↗
Live, RNG and electronic roulette are different categories
Live online roulette uses a streamed physical game; RNG roulette generates digital outcomes. Automated physical wheels can be streamed without a dealer, while land-based electronic systems may have many terminals per wheel. We do not count terminals, branded game listings and wheels as the same thing.
Calculated figures show their working
Spain’s live share is €229.93389574m divided by €251.43532772m combined online roulette GGR, giving 91.45%. Macau’s share is MOP1,220m divided by MOP247,404m Games of Fortune GGR, giving 0.493%. Calculations do not create an independent source. DGOJ ↗ · DICJ ↗
Different reporting periods stay different
Calendar years, financial years and partial-year observations retain their original labels. Britain’s FY2025/26 is provisional; France’s 2017/18 example is historical; Denmark’s 2025 monetary figures use the regulator’s GDP-adjusted 2026 level. They are not a like-for-like league table.
Missing data is not zero
A blank means a roulette-specific number was not established in the material reviewed. It does not mean nobody plays roulette or that the market has no revenue. Survey samples and company figures are never silently promoted into national estimates.
Roulette statistics: common questions.
How big is the global roulette market?
A defensible worldwide roulette GGR total was not established in this research. Selected markets publish game-specific numbers, but the gaps and incompatible reporting categories make a reliable global sum impossible from this dataset alone.
How many people play roulette worldwide?
No deduplicated annual worldwide count was established. Casino visits, online accounts, study participants and unique roulette players are different units. Adding them would overstate what the evidence supports.
Is roulette more popular than blackjack?
It depends on the market and measure. Spain’s 2025 online roulette GGR was €251.44m versus blackjack’s €24.44m. Denmark’s online roulette GGR was DKK246m versus blackjack’s DKK267m at the report’s 2026 level. Neither comparison establishes worldwide player preference. DGOJ ↗ · Danish regulator ↗
Does “American roulette” always mean double zero?
No. Regulators may use “American Roulette” as a reporting category rather than a precise wheel specification. The UKGC definition covers a casino table game using a roulette wheel. Check the actual rules before inferring the number of zero pockets. UKGC definitions ↗
Can these figures predict my gambling results?
No. Market revenue, observed hold and aggregate player studies cannot predict an individual session. Roulette has a mathematical disadvantage for the player under standard rules, and a betting system does not turn these market statistics into a winning strategy.
